This performance is a dialogue between the sculptor of the statue of liberty (Frédéric August Bartholdi) and his conscience – a crow as a video projection. The dialogue analyzes the meaning of the term/idea “liberty” and the contemporary understanding of “La liberté illumine le monde”.

Excerpt from the dialogue between Frédéric August Bartholdi and the crow
(Originally script in old German with French accent)

Crow:
Karrk, Karrk.
Your “Madame in a Halo” should have been a lighthouse,
but these days there are paying tourists in her head!

Frédéric August Bartholdi:
Don’t be so aggravating! You flying creatures …
You can’t create greater things – your wings aren’t able to do anything except fly!

Crow:
You and your monument are too heavy to fly!

Deutsche Version: Textausschnitt des Dialogs

Krähe:
Karrk, Karrk.
